Accountancy Scholarships
Each year approximately twenty scholarships are awarded to accountancy majors from funds made available to the Department of Accountancy by public and private firms, professional accounting organizations, and friends of the Department.

Jerry Faust/Burger King Scholarship Fund
Established in 1977 to honor Jerry Faust, football player who was the recipient of the Burger King Scholar Athlete Award for academic and athletic achievement.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in business
2. at least a 2.0 gpa
3. first preference given to students from the Grafton, Wisconsin, area
4. renewable up to three years if all criteria above is met

James O. Ash Scholarship Fund in the College of Business Administration
Established by Ellyn Ash, '43 graduate, in memory of her husband Jim who attended UW-L and served on the UW-L Foundation Board for several years. Jim was one of the founding partners of the La Crosse accounting firm, Hawkins Ash Baptie & Company.
Criteria:

1. preference given to a graduate student but may be a junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
3. financial need should be considered

Cloyce Campbell Scholarship
Established by the family and friends of Cloyce Campbell, a former management/marketing professor.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. 3.5 or higher cumulative gpa

Russell G. Cleary Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Stroh Brewery Company in memory of Russell Cleary. Stroh's acquired the G. Heileman Brewing Company where Russ Cleary was president and CEO for many years.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. above average gpa
3. financial need should be considered

David M. Cole Award in Economics and Finance
Established in honor of David Cole by the faculty of the departments of economics and finance.
Criteria:

1. freshman, sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in economics
2. 3.25 or higher cumulative gpa
3. financial need may be considered
4. based on academic achievement in economics and finance
5. good performance in the intermediate macroeconomics and microeconomics courses (ECO 305 and 308) is valued

Federated Insurance Scholarship Fund
Federated Insurance established this fund to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:

1. sophomore or junior to be enrolled full time with a major in the College of Business Administration; preference in risk and insurance concentration
2. 3.0 or higher gpa
3. financial need may be considered
4. involvement in community activities, internship, work experience preferred
5. leadership role(s) in any of the above noted activities preferred, but not required
6. if an eligible candidate is an international student, he or she must have permanent authorization to work in the United States

Maurice and Elizabeth Graff Scholarships -- Economic
Established by Dr. Maurice O. Graff who served UW-L as an instructor, student personnel officer, dean of the college, vice president, and vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in economics
2. 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
3. plan to continue school and graduate at UW-L

Lora Greene Scholarship
Established in accordance with the terms of the will of Lora Greene, former registrar and professor emeritus.
Criteria:

1. senior to be enrolled full time with a major in business administration
2. at least a 3.5 gpa

Jake and Janet Hoeschler Award for Excellence
Fund established by Janet Bowe Hoeschler, a 1940 graduate, in memory of her husband, Jake, to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:

1. graduating senior during or at the end of the academic year majoring in the College of Business Administration
2. based upon academic excellence and qualities of leadership demonstrated in campus and community activities
3. special application required and available from the College of Business Administration Dean’s Office

Jake and Janet Hoeschler Scholarships
Fund established by Janet Bowe Hoeschler, a 1940 graduate, in memory of her husband, Jake, to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. based on academic excellence and not financial need for the purpose of recruiting and/or retaining superior students
3. commitment, interest and involvement in campus and community activities, including such things as, but not limited to, internship experience
4. renewable if recipient qualifies
5. two letters of recommendation required from faculty

Mark A. Jacobson Memorial Endowment Fund
Scholarship is funded by a bequest from Mark A. Jacobson and other donations. Mark received an accounting degree in 1988 from UW-L.
Criteria:

1. senior (junior when applying) to be enrolled full time with a major in accountancy
2. 2.75 or higher cumulative gpa
3. financial need will be considered
4. Complete the application form available on the Accountancy Department webpage along with two letters of recommendation from faculty and letter of information about yourself including financial need, involvement in extracurricular activities and goals after graduation.

Joseph and Linda Kastantin Accountancy Scholarship
Established by the Kastantins for a student scholarship in the accountancy department. Joe Kastantin has been a member of the accountancy faculty since 1981.
Criteria:

1. freshman, sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in accountancy
2. above average gpa
3. financial need may be considered
4. Complete the application form available on the Accountancy Department webpage.

Mortenson, Matzelle & Meldrum, Inc., and Christine M. Kenyon Scholarship for Risk Management and Insurance
Established by M3 for students interested in pursuing risk management and insurance at UW-L.
Criteria:

1. recipient must be enrolled full time at UW-La Crosse with a major in the College of Business Administration displaying an interest in pursuing the risk management and insurance emphasis program;
2. recipient must be in good academic standing with at least a 3.2 grade point average;
3. recipient may be a sophomore, junor or senior;
4. financial need should be considered;
5. recipients should complete an essay describing why they are interested in insurance.

Terry & Mary Murphy College of Business Administration Fund
Established by alums Terry & Mary Murphy to support the College of Business Administration through student scholarships, as well as faculty development.
Criteria:

1. Recipient must be enrolled full time at UW-La Crosse with a major in the College of Business Administration;
2. Recipient must be in good academic standing with above average grade point average;
3. Recipient may be a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior;
4. Financial need may be considered;
5. Demonstrate interest in fitness and sport.

Silver Eagles Scholarship/ William O. Perkett Award Endowment Fund in the College of Business Administration
Established in 1999 by the Silver Eagles to provide financial support for promising College of Business Administration majors.
Criteria:

1. junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
3. financial need may be considered

UW-L Alumni Association Silver Eagles Network Scholarships
Funded by the members of the UW-L Alumni Association Silver Eagles Network with matching funds from the UW-L Foundation. This is a new award for 2011-12.
Criteria:

1. Applicant/Recipient must be a UW-L alum who is also a member of the UW-L Alumni Association and qualified to be a member of the alumni network; or a child, grandchild, sibling, niece or nephew of a UW-L alum who is also a member of the UW-L Alumni Association and qualified to be a member of the alumni network
2. Recipient must be enrolled as a full time freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student. A student accepted in the College of Business Administration will be given preference.
3. Financial need shall be a consideration in the selection process.
4. Recipient must be in good academic standing; grade point average will be a consideration.
5. Recipient must provide name of UW-L alum and relationship to that individual

Ben A. Sylla and James R. Sylla Fund
Established by James R. Sylla in memory and honor of his father, Ben A. Sylla, a 1923 graduate of La Crosse. This fund supports student scholarships as well as other activities promoting the programs and mission of the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:

1. Recipient must be enrolled full time at UW-L in the College of Business Administration
2. Recipient must be in good academic standing with a grade point average of not less than 3.25;
3. Recipient may be a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student;
4. Financial need may be considered.

Wells Fargo Merit Banking Scholarship
Granted by Wells Fargo (formerly Norwest Bank of La Crosse) to a student in the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:

1. sophomore, junior, senior or graduate to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
2. at least a 3.5 gpa
3. academic excellence and leadership qualities

Shu-Chih Wen Memorial Scholarship Fund for Information Systems
Established by family and friends for Information Systems majors in memory of Shu-Chih Wen, the wife of department chair Kuang-Wei Wen. Shu-Chih, 49, died in an automobile accident.
Criteria:

1. junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in information systems
2. 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
3. financial need shall be considered
