COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
All applications for scholarships listed in this section should be
submitted to Room 223 Wimberly Hall. No letters of recommendation required
unless otherwise stated in scholarship criteria.
Deadline: March 1.
Accountancy Scholarships
The Department of Accountancy offers scholarships based upon annual
funding by firms or organizations.
Criteria:
- Applications for all scholarships available at the Accountancy Department Office.
AnchorBank Scholarship
As a way to say "thanks" to UW-L AnchorBank is supporting this scholarship for a student in business or finance.
Criteria:
- must be freshman, sophomore, junior or senior enrolled full time
- must major in business or finance
- above average grade point average
James O. Ash Scholarship Fund in the College of Business Administration
Established by Ellyn Ash, '43 graduate, in memory of her husband Jim
who attended UW-L and served on the UW-L Foundation Board for several
years. Jim was one of the founding partners of the La Crosse accounting
firm, Hawkins Ash Baptie & Company.
Criteria:
- preference given to a graduate student but may be a junior or senior
to be enrolled full time with a major in College of Business Administration
- 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
- financial need should be considered
Cloyce Campbell Scholarship
Established by the family and friends of Cloyce Campbell, a former management/marketing
professor.
Criteria:
- sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major
in College of Business Administration
- 3.5 or higher cumulative gpa
Russell G. Cleary Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Stroh Brewery Company in memory of Russell Cleary.
Stroh's acquired the G. Heileman Brewing Company where Russ Cleary was
president and CEO for many years.
Criteria:
- sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major
in College of Business Administration
- above average gpa
- financial need should be considered
David M. Cole Award in Economics and Finance
Established in honor of David Cole by the faculty of the departments
of economics and finance.
Criteria:
- freshman, sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with
a major in economics
- 3.25 or higher cumulative gpa
- financial need may be considered
- based on academic achievement in economics and finance
- good performance in the intermediate macroeconomics and microeconomics
courses (ECO 305 and 308) is valued
Federated Insurance Scholarship Fund
Federated Insurance established this fund to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:
- sophomore or junior to be enrolled full time with a major in the College of Business Administration; preference in risk and insurance concentration
- 3.0 or higher gpa
- financial need may be considered
- involvement in community activities, internship, work experience preferred
- leadership role(s) in any of the above noted activities preferred, but not required
- if an eligible candidate is an international student, he or she must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
Maurice and Elizabeth Graff Scholarships -- Economic
Established by Dr. Maurice O. Graff who served UW-L as an instructor,
student personnel officer, dean of the college, vice president, and
vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Criteria:
- sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major
in economics
- 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
- plan to continue school and graduate at UW-L
Lora Greene Scholarship
Established in accordance with the terms of the will of Lora Greene,
former registrar and professor emeritus.
Criteria:
- senior to be enrolled full time with a major in business administration
- at least a 3.5 gpa
Jake and Janet Hoeschler Award for Excellence
Fund established by Janet Bowe Hoeschler, a 1940 graduate, in memory
of her husband, Jake, to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:
- graduating senior during or at the end of the academic year majoring
in the College of Business Administration
- based upon academic excellence and qualities of leadership demonstrated
in campus and community activities
- special application required and available from the College of Business
Administration Deans Office
Jake and Janet Hoeschler Scholarships
Fund established by Janet Bowe Hoeschler, a 1940 graduate, in memory
of her husband, Jake, to support the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:
- sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major
in College of Business Administration
- based on academic excellence and not financial need for the purpose
of recruiting and/or retaining superior students
- commitment, interest and involvement in campus and community activities,
including such things as, but not limited to, internship experience
- renewable if recipient qualifies
- two letters of recommendation required from faculty
Mark A. Jacobson Memorial Endowment Fund
Scholarship is funded by a bequest from Mark A. Jacobson and other donations.
Mark received an accounting degree in 1988 from UW-L.
Criteria:
- senior (junior when applying) to be enrolled full time with a major
in accountancy
- 2.75 or higher cumulative gpa
- financial need will be considered
- special application required and available from the Accountancy
Department along with two letters of recommendation from faculty and
letter of information about yourself including financial need, involvement
in extracurricular activities and goals after graduation
Joseph and Linda Kastantin Accountancy Scholarship
Established by the Kastantins for a student scholarship in the accountancy
department. Joe Kastantin has been a member of the accountancy faculty
since 1981.
Criteria: 
- freshman, sophomore, junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in accountancy
- above average gpa
- financial need may be considered
- special application required and available from the Accountancy
Department
Mortenson, Matzelle & Meldrum, Inc., and Christine M. Kenyon Scholarship for Risk Management and Insurance
Established by M3 for students interested in pursuing risk management and insurance at UW-L.
Criteria.
- recipient must be enrolled full time at UW-La Crosse with a major in the College of Business Administration displaying an interest in pursuing the risk management and insurance emphasis program;
- recipient must be in good academic standing with at least a 3.2 grade point average;
- recipient may be a sophomore, junor or senior;
- financial need should be considered;
- recipients should complete an essay describing why they are interested in insurance.
Silver Eagles Scholarship/ William O. Perkett Award Endowment Fund
in the College of Business Administration
Established in 1999 by the Silver Eagles to provide financial support
for promising College of Business Administration majors.
Criteria:
- junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in College
of Business Administration
- 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
- financial need may be considered
Wells Fargo Merit Banking Scholarship
Granted by Wells Fargo (formerly Norwest Bank of La Crosse) to a student
in the College of Business Administration.
Criteria:
- sophomore, junior, senior or graduate to be enrolled full time with
a major in College of Business Administration
- at least a 3.5 gpa
- academic excellence and leadership qualities
Shu-Chih Wen Memorial Scholarship Fund for Information Systems
Established by family and friends for Information Systems majors in
memory of Shu-Chih Wen, the wife of department chair Kuang-Wei Wen.
Shu-Chih, 49, died in an automobile accident.
Criteria:
- junior or senior to be enrolled full time with a major in information
systems
- 3.0 or higher cumulative gpa
- financial need shall be considered
